CNO (Chief Nursing Officer for Clinic) needed for a private in Clinic in Benin Africa.
a. Qualifications
• Nursing degree from a recognized university.
• Masters degree in a Health or related field is a plus
• Additional education and coursework in management and business
would enhance candidacy.
b. Experience
• 10 years post graduate experience, with a reputation as an excellent
nurse.
• At least 5 years in a similar role.
• Experience in multicultural health care environment
• Experience with some form of hospital accreditation will be an asset.
• Skills in oral and written communication as well as computer literacy
(French and English).
• Knowledge and experience of quality infrastructure is needed, including
how to develop and implement decision tools, clinical protocols and
guidelines, care management programs, and outcome measurement
assessments.
• Needs working knowledge of medical information technology, including
statistical analysis, clinical epidemiology, medical informatics,
understanding of best practices and how to successfully introduce
information technology into clinical practice.
c. Summary of Tasks
• The CNO leads and supports the Nursing Department, including its
structure, processes, planning and integration with hospital-wide
programs and services. Oversees the development of practice
environments that prioritise patient and family centred care and patient
safety. Adheres to the principles of continuous quality improvement and
ensures compliance with the Hospital’s Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and
Regulations, Ministry of Health (in country of employment) regulations
and international accreditation standards as implemented from time to
time.
• Supports the standardisation of services through clinical pathways,
protocols and policy and procedure development, and the periodic
review of the system for effectiveness.
• Provides leadership, attends and participates in meetings, task forces,
committees, as detailed in the committee membership of the hospital.
• Ensures the full nursing coverage of Outpatient Clinics and In Patient
services through competent staff.
• Provides leadership in support of international accreditation, regulatory
activities of the hospital, Patient Safety programs and others identified
by the hospital, or a department.
