Biologist needed for a private clinic in Benin Africa
a. Qualifications
• A medical degree, such as MD or MBChB, from a recognized university.
• FRCS, American Board (or equivalent) as Pathologist/Biologist held for
ten (10) years.
b. Experience
• 10 years post graduate experience.
• At least 3 years in a similar role.
• Experience in multicultural health care environment
• Experience with some form of hospital accreditation will be an asset.
• Skills in oral and written communication as well as computer literacy
(English and French).
c. Summary of Tasks
• The Pathologist/Biologist is responsible for administrative, clinical and
teaching activities within the section and ensures discipline and smooth
running of the section. Adheres to the principles of continuous quality
improvement and ensures compliance with the Hospital’s Medical Staff
Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Ministry of Health regulations and
international accreditation standards as implemented from time to time.
• To supervise, coordinate and manage all pathology and clinical
laboratory services throughout the organisation, inclusive of Point of
Care Testing. Provide all pathology and clinical laboratory services as
pathologist/biologist and write reports when necessary. Verifies results
obtained from contracted services.
• Responsible for regular meetings with staff in the department to ensure
good communication, quality control and team building.
• Services to be covered – Biochemistry, Hematology,
Immunology/Serology, Molecular Biology, Microscopy, Microbiology.
• Implementation and maintenance of Laboratory Quality Control
Principles.
• Timeous reporting of all studies done in the department.
