Mechanical Engineer
SCOPE OF WORK:
Is responsible for making sure all MEP on a given project is constructed and installed correctly. Usually, these projects are Residential, Towers, commercial building construction projects: Hotels, Hospitals and Malls and involve installation & commissioning of HVAC systems, plumbing, ducting, piping, fire fighting BMS, etc……... They are the engineers responsible for bringing the plans outlined in blueprints to life.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To Supervise and coordinate project work for his area of discipline in accordance with contract conditions, working within budget and time constraints to ensure customer satisfaction.

JOB OBJECTIVES
1. To monitor and assign work to Site Engineers in accordance with Company’s policies and procedures and limits of authority.

2. To monitor and control expenses related to project work and ensure organisational forecasts and budgets are met for these expenses.

3. To handle procurement activities relating to contracts and sub contracts in accordance with Company’s Procedures and Procurement department activities.

4. To undertake team briefings and inception activities to ensure all aspects of work are understood by all concerned parties.

5. To ensure safety standards and procedures are implemented and followed in accordance with contract requirements and Company guidelines.

6. To undertake QA/QC reporting interaction with other departments of Company and clients to assure production schedules and deliveries are met.

7. To be responsible and report on the scheduling of man/material movements for all aspects of construction and or maintenance activity.

8. To act as a liaison with contractors and clients managing any work interfaces and enhancements to project scope

9. To review and evaluate technical submittals and shop drawings prior to submission to consultants and clients according to required project standards.

10. To assist the Project Manager in preparation of Sub Contract agreements and to recruit people for his area of discipline.

11. Assign duties and follow up with engineers and draftsmen Coordinate with consultant for shop drawing and material submittal/Approval
12. Design systems incorporating pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, instrumentation and controls into the overall design
13. Take responsibility for mechanical engineering tasks, and perform associated calculations and analysis
14. Review project design, specifications, drawings & relevant documents, and provide resolution when needed
15. Establish design criteria and prepare procurement specifications
16. Check Take-off quantities done by engineers, evaluate proposed materials / systems and obtain approval
17. Participate in the technical and commercial evaluation of bids
18. Supervise supplier and subcontractor evaluation done for mechanical engineering/construction matters
19. Prepare/Supervise Mechanical designs, Prepare/Supervise shop drawings through assistance of draftsmen and obtain approval
20. Prepare work plan and organize resources to complete the works within period
21. Control quality of works performed internally and through subcontractors
22. Supervise and check the development of method statements for respective trades and disciplines
23. Review claims for variation orders and provide input
24.Analyze complex engineering problems and offer effective resolutions


SAFETY AND QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain standards of safety and comply with Company’s Health, Safety & Environment Management System requirements.
• Follow and maintain Company standards of Quality in accordance with Company Quality System requirements

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• B.Sc. /MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable University.
• Knowledge of Mechanical / Electrical engineering concepts is preferred.

• Computer Skills
• 7 to 12 years related work experience as a Project Engineer construction in the Gulf, etc……..

Special Qualifications:
- A good knowledge of written and spoken English is essentially required.
- A good knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD and project planning tools are required.
- A good knowledge of Engineering project planning software is required.
- A good knowledge of written and spoken Arabic +French is an asset
