Position: Senior Procurement and Logistics Officer
Role Summary:
The Senior Procurement and Logistics Officer will be responsible for overseeing procurement and transit activities, including sourcing, acquiring, delivering, and receiving items across international borders. The role requires strong strategic thinking, analytical, and negotiation skills, along with a solid understanding of international procurement and transit regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement procurement and logistics/transit policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals and objectives
• Source and acquire frozen foods and dry & shelf-stable food products from international markets and suppliers, ensuring compliance with regulations, quality standards, and budget requirements
• Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure optimal terms and conditions
• Manage and monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock to meet market demand
• Oversee transportation and transit documentation, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery in compliance with international and local trade regulations
• Maintain accurate procurement and logistics records and reports to ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies
• Prepare administrative, operational, and financial reports, including claims, budgets, and cost forecasts for transit operations
• Coordinate closely with other departments to ensure smooth operations
• Contribute to the development of long-term capital improvement plans
• Analyze procurement and logistics performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimized processes
• Plan, organize, direct, and supervise functions necessary to operate a municipal transit system and related transportation elements
• Provide consultation on work priorities, address potential problems, and propose effective solutions
• Train and mentor staff on procurement and logistics procedures and best practices
Experience:
• 1–2 years of experience in procurement & transit for ( frozen food /dry / and shelf-stable food ), experience in the African market preferred
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a closely related field
