Job Description – General Manager (GM)
Position: General Manager - Manufacturing or FMCG background is recommended.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Board of Directors
Location: Angola - Luanda
Role Summary
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for leading and overseeing the company’s overall operations, ensuring profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth. The GM will provide strategic direction, manage daily operations, build high-performing teams, and ensure strong financial and operational performance aligned with the company’s mission and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day operations across all departments (sales, finance, operations, HR, supply chain, etc.).
Take full P&L responsibility, ensuring revenue growth, cost control, and profitability.
Develop and implement strategic business plans, budgets, and operational goals.
Drive operational efficiency through process improvements, performance management, and best practices.
Build, motivate, and lead a strong management team, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
Develop and execute commercial strategies to strengthen market position, grow sales, and enhance customer relationships.
Monitor KPIs and business performance, providing regular reports to the CEO/Board.
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
Lead organizational change initiatives and continuous improvement programs (Lean/Kaizen experience a plus).
Manage relationships with key stakeholders including clients, suppliers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree (MBA) preferred.
10–15 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Strong background in manufacturing, FMCG, trading, or distribution industries preferred.
Proven track record of managing full P&L responsibility.
Solid financial literacy (budgeting, forecasting, cost management, working capital).
Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
Experience in challenging or emerging markets is an advantage.
Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.
