Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Director with a strong background in building construction contracting. The successful candidate will lead multiple large-scale construction projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires hands-on leadership, operational expertise, and proven experience managing construction teams and contractors—not consultancy or design-only projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the execution of multiple building construction projects, from site mobilization to handover.
• Direct project managers and senior project managers on all operational aspects.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, quality, and safety on construction sites.
• Manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, resolve on-site issues, and make critical operational decisions.
• Implement process improvements to enhance project delivery and efficiency.
• Coordinate closely with procurement, commercial, and site teams to ensure smooth execution.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 20 years of relevant experience in building construction contracting, with at least 5 years leading multiple projects.
• Proven track record managing large-scale commercial, residential, or institutional projects as a contractor, not in a design or consultancy firm.
• Fluent in French with a good command of English.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Deep knowledge of project management, contract administration, and construction regulations.
• Experience working in Africa is highly desirable.
• Strategic thinking and operational problem-solving.
• Budget and financial management of construction projects.
• Contract negotiation and subcontractor management.
• Team leadership and people development on-site and in offices.
