The Feed Mill Supervisor oversees daily operations of the poultry feed mill to ensure timely production of high-quality feed that meets nutritional specifications and farm requirements. This role manages feed mill staff, monitors equipment performance, enforces safety and quality standards, and ensures efficient feed production, storage, and delivery coordination.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Feed Mill Operations
Supervise and coordinate all feed production activities including grinding, mixing, pelleting, and bagging.
Monitor feed formulations and ensure compliance with nutritionist specifications.
Ensure continuous feed production to meet poultry farm schedules and flock demands.
Maintain proper moisture, temperature, and quality during feed processing.
2. Equipment Monitoring & Maintenance
Oversee operation of mill machinery (grinders, mixers, conveyors, boilers, pellet mills).
Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently.
Coordinate maintenance and repair work with technicians and external contractors.
Monitor power, steam, and utility usage to reduce downtime and optimize performance.
3. Quality Control & Food Safety
Implement and enforce feed quality standards in line with company policies and local regulations.
Ensure sampling, testing, and recording of raw materials and finished feed.
Monitor feed hygiene, avoid contamination, and maintain traceability of all batches.
Enforce HACCP, GMP, and biosecurity standards within the feed mill area.
4. Raw Material & Inventory Management
Monitor raw material levels (corn, soybean meal, premixes, additives) and coordinate timely procurement.
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
Track inventory of raw materials, finished feed, and packaging materials.
Maintain accurate documentation on material usage and stock balances.
5. Staff Supervision & Training
Supervise feed mill operators, loaders, and support workers.
Assign daily duties and ensure production processes are followed correctly.
Train staff on equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality control standards.
Ensure compliance with shift schedules and labor requirements.
6. Safety & Compliance
Enforce safety policies, PPE requirements, and emergency procedures.
Identify hazards, conduct safety inspections, and implement corrective actions.
Comply with regulatory and environmental requirements regarding dust control, waste management, and emissions.
7. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily and weekly reports on production, feed quality, inventory, and downtime.
Record machine readings, batch logs, and raw material usage accurately.
Communicate operational issues, delays, or improvements to management.
8. Coordination with Other Departments
Work closely with the farm production team to schedule feed deliveries.
Liaise with nutritionists to ensure formulation accuracy and adjust production as needed.
Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and maintenance departments.
